Around 120 people attended Letterkenny Athletic Club's annual presentation function in the Mount Errigal Hotel on Friday night.

In his address, club chairman, Gerry Davenport commended all athletes on their efforts over the last 12 months and wished them well as the new season gets underway. Other speakers on the night included Letterkenny Town Mayor, Jim Lynch and councillors Ciaran Brogan, Gerry McMonagle and Jimmy Harte.

The award winners were as follows: Senior Overall athlete of year - Pauric McKinney, Cross country athlete of the year - Pauric McKinney, Masters athlete of the year - Gary Crossan, Performance of the year - Maria McCambridge (winning national marathon title), Road athlete of the year - Kieran Doherty, Track and field athlete of the year - Dan Mooney. Female athlete of the year - Maria McCambridge, Most improved athlete of the year - Charlie Page. Club Person of the year - Sharon Bradley, Juvenile, Overall athlete of the year - Darren McBrearty, Cross country athlete of the year - Christopher Johnston.

Track and field athlete of the year - Mark English. Indoor athlete of the year - Ruairi Finnegan. Most improved athlete of the year - Lisa Gibson. Performance of the year - Darren McBrearty. Team of the year - under-12 4 x 100 metre team of Oisin Toal, Dara Toal, Ciaran Kelly and Lochlann Purdy. Under-13 athlete of the year - Natasha McArdle.

The club lotto took place in The Glencar Inn last Saturday night. The numbers drawn were: 6,7, 16 and 18. There was one Match Three winner- Neil McCollum, Ballymacool, Letterkenny. The jackpot this weekend is €1,390.

The club appeals to all members to get behind the fundraising drive for the Dublin City Marathon that is being done in conjunction with the Donegal Diabetes Federation. Sponsorship cards are available from Danny McDaid and committee members.

Congratulations to Pauric McKinney on winning the Mooathon for the third successive year on Sunday. Marty Gormley was third. Well done to Maria McCambridge who won the ladies race. Other club atheltes who took part included our Secretary, Laura Corbett, Vice-Chairman and PRO, C.J McGinley and Lester Dobson.

The club is organsing a Fashion Show which is due to take place on Thursday, November 26. Further details can be obtained from Sharon Bradley.

The club will be represented this weekend at the Club Masters in Finn Valley on Sunday at 12noon.
