Danny Mooney and Daniel Hannigan both had strong runs on Saturday afternoon in the McConnell Shield cross country race in Sixmilewater Park, Ballyclare. This is one of the longest established fixtures on the Irish running scene and it was the 81st running of the race. The race was won by Paddy Hamilton of Slieve Gullion Runners.
Ciaran Doherty travelled to southern England at the weekend and had a good run in the Milton Keynes Cross Country Challenge.
Noreen McGettigan had a fine run on November 1st in one of the world’s most iconic races, the New York Marathon. She clocked 3.40.16, and was 81st out of the large group of 452 Irish runners competing. Noreen was 201st in the F40 category. This placed her inside the first 6% of the 3420 runners in the F40 category.
The club wishes to extend condolences to club athlete Ciaran Doherty following the death of his grandfather, Hughie Sweeney, who passed away last week, aged 104. Hughie Sweeney RIP.
