Letterkenny AC at the Dublin Marathon 2009
October 2009
IT was yet another memorable Dublin City Marathon last Monday as we had over a dozen athletes who put in tremendous performances.
Once again, our stalwart, Pauric McKinney was the toast of our success. Pauric finished runner up in the Senior Irish Men’s Championship and was 18th overall. His time was just over 2.26. It was the seventh time Pauric took the runners up place in the marathon and for the 44 year-old schoolteacher it was yet another great run.
For the other athletes it was a great day as well- none more so than first time marathon men, Charlie Page, Paul Toner and Ciaran McMonagle.
The following is a list of the times (unofficial)- Pauric McKinney (2.26), Marty Gormley (2.51), Paul Toner (2.55), Charlie Page (2.58), Aidan McKenna (2.59), Adrian Callaghan (3.04), Joe English (3.10), Mark Bolton (3.10), Ciaran McMonagle and Ciaran O’Donnell (3.29), Lester Dobson (3.37) and Neil McCollum (3.45). Well done to all the athletes.
Thanks also to Paddy O’Brien, Vincent McGlynn, Sean McFadden, Collie O’Donnell and C.J who assisted the runners on bicycles over the 26 mile course. Well done to Teresa and Herbie for their assistance all weekend and to the families and supporters of the athletes. It was a memorable 30th anniversary of the marathon for all concerned.
All sponsorship money and cards to be returned by Thursday week, November 6th please for the Dublin City Marathon in conjunction with the Donegal Diabetes Federation. Hopefully, now the club will turn the success in Dublin to further glory this Sunday in Ballybofey for the Donegal Cross Country Senior Championship’s. Our club captain, Gary Crossan is expecting to field a strong team and hopefully our full squad will turn up for the 10k race.
Congratulations to Ciaran Doherty who won the Bobby Rae Memorial Cross Country Championship in Coleraine on Saturday. The lotto numbers last weekend were 2, 4, 10 and 14. There was one match three winner-Noreen Gibbons who won €80. The jackpot this Saturday night in The Glencar Inn is €1,430.
