Letterkenny AC Club Notes

October 2009

ITS all systems go for the Dublin City Marathon on Bank Holiday Monday. The club has a proud record in this event over the years and we’re confident those travelling this weekend will do very well.

We’re appealing again to all club members, juvenile and senior to support our fundraising in conjunction with the Donegal Diabetes Federation.

The club will be represented this weekend at the marathon by Pauric McKinney, Gary Crossan, Ciaran O’Donnell, Charlie Page, Aidan McKenna, Adrian Callaghan, Paul Toner, Mark Bolton, Lester Dobson and Ciaran McMonagle. Other locals taking part include Stephen Maguire, Seamus Temple and Ronan Brophy to name just a few. Good luck to all the athletes.

Congratulations to Ciaran Doherty who finished second in the Over-35 at the Gerry Farnham Cross Country and Masters International Trials on Sunday in the Phoenix Park. He was just pipped for first place. Well done to all our other athletes, Maria McCambridge, Gary Crossan, Darren McBrearty, Ciaran Bannon, Danny Mooney, Hugh Gallagher and Michael Black.

The next big outing is the Donegal Cross Country Championship’s on November 1 in Stranorlar. The club lotto numbers drawn at the weekend were 1, 5, 6 and 16. There were four match two winners- Neil Blaney, Terri Boyle, Richard Raymond and Ferrys Refuge. This weekend’s jackpot is €1,420 and the draw takes place as usual in The Glencar Inn.

Letterkenny AC's Garvan McCloskey, will compete in the New York Marathon on Sunday, November 1st to raise funds for this worthy charity. Those wishing to make a donation can contact Garvan at AIB, Letterkenny or on 086-6055541.
