MORE COUNTY MEDALS FOR L.A.C JUVENILES

3 INDIVIDUAL GOLD AT KILLYBEGS

October 2009

On Another glorious autumn day the second stage of the county cross country championships (un even ages) took place on the very well appointed and picturesque course of Fintra.

Once again Letterkenny juveniles made the journey and suffice to say kept the club colours to the fore in some magnificent races with large entries in the younger age groups.

U11 GIRLS
The first individual gold in the county championships went to L.A.C Arlene Crossan, another great performance from the Dromore girl who`s silver in last week’s U12 event. Definitely one for the future, Arlene led the team to the silver medal position with good backup from Alana Clarke (11), Roisin McMonagle (13), Jennifer Kilcoyne (17), Shauna McFadden (23) and Saoirse Callaghan (24).

U11 boys
Another team silver medal for these boys, Jordan Ryan led the team home in 4th place. This was a good run by another athlete for the future Michael McGrory (7th), Eoghan Bradley (10), sean Curran (12), Conor O`Donnell (15) and Evan Dunleavy (25) all placed well and deserve to take their place in the Ulster finals in a few weeks time.

U13 GIRLS
Last week’s U14 runaway winner in Stranolar left no one in any doubt she is the best around in these two age groups, and this display Natasha McArdle (1st) should dominate the county championships for many more years. This outstanding talent must now focus on the Ulsters and indeed a National medal in the coming weeks. Ciara Finnegan (11), Sara Boyce (20), Sara Boyle (40) battled bravely in a large field but were just out of the team medals.

U13 BOYS
Team gold for these lads showing good team formation, but once again it was last week’s U14 winner Peter Gibbons (1st) who added gold. Like Natasha McArdle this young man can be around for many more years. Oisin Toal (5), Jack Patton (7), Mathew Sweeney (10), Ethan McCrossan (11), Enda McBride (16) and Thomas Dawson (19) all packed well.

U/15 GIRLS
Sadly only three club runners so no team medals. Rose Boyle (7), Lisa Gibson (8) and Niamh Cannon (16) did not let the colours down and deserve merit marks for competing in the Donegal championships.

U/15 BOYS
No problem with teams here and a deserved gold medal for this squad. John Russell (9), Conor Morrison (11), Sean Boyle (12), Odhran Doherty (13) and Patrick Doherty (23) packing well and looking forward to the Ulsters.

U17 GIRLS
Again well done to these girls for producing a team and deservedly taking the gold medal with Emily Grennan, Monica O`Connor (5), Catherine Boyle (8) and Niamh Frain (16) picking up the honours.

U17 BOYS
Only Daniel Carr (12) and newcomer Enda Joyce (18) turned out here, bravely battling their way to the finish.

Coleraine University grounds Saturday 24th October provide the qualifiers for National age group. Travel arrangements later.
