AFTER two races last week in Buncrana and Annagry the Grand Prix action for LAC athletes switches to the 5k in Donegal Town this Friday night (June 4).
Last week was a memorable one on the racing front for the club. Letterkenny AC's Maria McCambridge set a new women's course record of 16:06 to win the 5K road race in Buncrana sponsored by Sean Furey Insurances.
Joe McAllister from St Malachy's also set a course record when posting a time of 14:42, with the Letterkenny AC duo of Ciaran Doherty second in 15:01 and Pauric McKinney (celebrating his 45th birthday) third in 15:18.
Once again, Letterkenny AC had a a large number of runners competing, with a number of personal bests being recorded including the likes of the ever improving Gerry Ryan (18.39), Gerard Mullen (20.05) and Noreen McGettigan (19.48). Others to bag strong times were the likes of Garvin Walker (16.31), Marcus McClintock (17.18), John Daly (17.17) and Ciaran O’Donnell (18.20). A record number of 320 took part.
LAC’s Ciaran Doherty was the winner of last Friday night’s 5k in Annagry. Doherty clocked a time of 15.23 and was followed in second place by Ivan Toner (16.26). LAC’s, Fionualla Diver, was the first woman across the line in a superb time of 19.40 (18th overall). Marty Gormley was 6th in a time of 17.49 and the Kevin McDevitt finished 7th (18.18).
The lotto numbers drawn last weekend were: 10, 12, 14 and 15. David Campbell, 14 Windmill View, Glencar was the match three winner. The jackpot this weekend in the Glencar Inn stands at €1,110.
