CONGRATULATIONS to Letterkenny AC athlete, Pauric McKinney who won the North West 10k in impressive fashion on Sunday. Pauric, won the race in a time of 32.52 ahead of Cranford Eoin McGinley while Letterkenny’s Johnny Patton finished third in a personal best time of 33.32.

The ever improving Fionnuala Diver came second in the senior women’s race with a highly impressive time of 41.20.

Gary Crossan (34.16), Ivan Toner (34.33), Ciaran Bannon (35.15), Pauric O’Donnell (35.20) Eddie Sweeney (35.21) and Ciaran Sullivan (35.25) all finished in top dozen racers. Martin Gormley came in 16 in a time of 36.23 followed closely by the ever improving Charlie Page (36.56) while others in the top 30 included John Daly (37.16), Paul Toner (37.29), Ciaran Higgins (37.41) and Joe English (38.12).

Kevin Toner who finished second in the Over 60 category a week earlier in the National 10k championship’s in Navan finished 40th with a time of 39.35 followed by Ben George ( 39.59) and Aidan McKenna (40.03).

Other LAC runners included Gerry Ryan (42.06), Richard Raymond (42.19), Noel Lynch (42.30), Norman Spratt (42.47), Lester Dobson (43.04), Mark Bolton (43.31), Garvan McCloskey (43.45) and Gerard Mullen (43.55).

Over 1,800 people took part in the event-a record turnout. The field included 1,200 walkers and 600 runners took part in the highly successful road race. Congratulations to the organising committee for their superb effort with all proceeds going to Donegal Down Syndrome Association, Donegal Branch of the Alzheimer Society and Multiple Sclerosis Ireland-Donegal Branch.

Paul Harris posted a personal best of 3:34 in the Belfast Marathon on Monday. The lotto numbers drawn this week in the Glencar Inn were 6,10, 11 and 21. There were no jackpot winners. Math three winners were: John Davenport, Mickey Quinn and Laurence McGinley each winning €20. This week’s jackpot is €1,180.

The next big event in Letterkenny will be the Inter Firms which takes place on Wednesday, May 20 at 7.30pm. The race will once again be sponsored by Hickey, Clarke and Langan.
