It’s all systems go for the annual 3K which takes place on Easter Sunday, April 4th. Registrations will be taken at Aura from 10 am, with the race starting at 11.15 am at the Esso depot on Port Road. Entry fee is five euro, spot prizes only. Refreshments will be served after the race at Aura at 12 noon.
There was no winner of the club’s lotto jackpot on Saturday night. The numbers drawn were 4, 8, 20 and 23. Three match winners – Cathal Roarty, Tommy Ronaghan and Gavin Ronaghan and each receive 30 euro. Next week’s jackpot will be 1,020 euro.
The club held a hugely successful 5K on St Patrick’s Day, with 121 completing the distance. Kevin Holian of Finn Valley took victory with the LAC pair of Brian Thursby and Johnathon Patton taking second and third respectively. There were a number of personal bests recorded by club athletes including newcomer Garvin Walker (17:02 which placed him 15th overall) and Aidan McKenna (17:55 which placed him 30th overall). Gerry Ryan (19:02 which placed him 48th overall) and Gerard Mullen (20:07 which placed him 75th overall) both took over a minute off their time from last year’s time.
Senior athletes are asked to note that if they are taking part in the national 10K road championships scheduled for the Phoenix Park, Dublin on Sunday, April 18th, they must register themselves. No entries will be taken on the day of the race this year as it is part of the Great Ireland Run.
Congratulations to Ben George on the birth of his son earlier in the month. The club extends its sympathy to Jenny Kelly, wife of club treasurer, Eunan Kelly, on the death of her father in Dublin.
