Letterkenny AC Club Notes
March 2010
Well done to leading veteran, Pauric McKinney and recent signing, Patrick Brennan, who placed 22nd and 37 respectively in the national senior cross country championships at the Phoenix Park on Sunday. Pauric showed all his experience he's gained over the years and was unlucky not to secure top 20 place. Patrick is still settling into his new environs and can be satisfied with what was just his second race in the black and amber vest.
The smile on Mark Kenneally’s face said it all after winning the Woodie’s DIY senior title. He took the lead shortly after the start of the six lap race and cruised to a comfortable win. There was a great scrap for second with Gary Thornton from Galway City Harriers just getting the better of Ulster senior champion, Gary Murray of St. Malachy’s. Clonliffe Harriers won the team title from Raheny Shamrocks.
Plans are at an advanced stage for the St Patrick's Day 5K road race in Letterkenny which will have an 11.15 am start on Wednesday, March 17th. The race starts at the Quality Court Hotel on Upper Main Street and will finish at the Market Square after two loops of the town. Registration at the Aura Leisure Centre from 9.30 am and the presentation of prizes also at Aura. Entry fee is eight euro.
There was no winner of the club's weekly lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn on Saturday night in the Glencar Inn were 4, 8, 20 and 23. The three match three winners - Cathal Roarty, Tommy Ronaghan and Gavin Roughan - receive 30 euro. This weekend's jackpot will be 1,620 euro.
