Best of luck to the club members who travel to Dublin this weekend to compete in the Dublin City Marathon on Monday morning. This group have been working hard over the last number of months and hopefully their efforts will be rewarded with good performances. Monday’s marathon has a 9 am start.
Darren McBrearty and Ruairi Finnegan both had strong runs in the Gerry Farnan cross country event on Sunday in Dublin. Darren placed 12th in the senior race in a time of 25:50 while Ruairi was third in the junior race in a time of 26:06. The senior race was won by Michael Mulhare of Portlaoise in 24:30, with West Waterford’s David McCarthy second in 24:51 and John Coghlan of MSB third in 24:53.
Clonliffe’s Ian Guiden took victory in the junior race in 25:42, with Jake O’Regan from St John’s AC second in 26:00.
Well done to Ivan Toner who won the New Mills 10K road race held on Saturday morning. Ivan clocked his quickest time for quite a while when leading the field of 98 runners home in 33:40. Second was Paul McGlinchey in 34:46, with Gavin Crawford third in 34:50. Finn Valley’s Teresa McGloin was the fastest woman and finished seventh overall in 35:56, from the Letterkenny AC pair of Marie Boyle in 43:48 and Sharon Black 44:26. Thanks to all those who officiated on the day and helped ensure that the race was run off safely.

Group sessions continue on Tuesday and Thursday at the Danny McDaid Track at 6.30 pm. New members always welcome.
