Letterkenny AC's Jonathon Patton took victory in Sunday's 10K which was held around the climbs of Horn Head in Dunfanaghy in a time of 36:54, with Gavin Crawford second in 38:04 and Dominic Bonner third in 38:37. 166 took part in the event.

Well done again to Darren McBrearty who is bound for the World Junior Championships in Canada next month after gaining a qualifying time in a very competitive 1,500 metre race in Tullamore on Saturday. The DCU student ran 3.47.15. Congratulations also to Patrick Brennan who was fourth in the same race knocking a massive nine seconds off his personal best.

Mark English who is off to the World Youth Olympics in Singapore led the way from the start to win the 800 metres at the Irish Schools Athletics Championships with a time of 1.53.31 while the improving Danny Mooney also recorded a personal best (1.53). Ruairi Finnegan finished second in the Intermediate 1,500 metre- well done to him again.

In the Donegal Town 5k last Friday a number of LAC athletes featured well. Ciaran Doherty (2nd 1.5.01), Brian Thursby (3rd-16.12), Ivan Toner (4th-16.17) Gavin Walker (10th-17.04) and Marty Gormley (12-17.21).

Marcus McClintock ran (17.44) to finish 16th followed by Ciaran Gallagher (17.57) Greg Campbell (18.33), Fionnuala Diver (18.58) Gabriel McCrossan (19.07), Garvan McCloskey (19.37) and Paul Cosgrove (19.42).

This Friday night the action switches to Buncrana for a 10k run on Saturday.

The lotto numbers last weekend were 10, 12, 14 and 15. Match three winners was David Campbell. 1 Windmill View, Glencar. The jackpot in The Glencar Inn this weekend is €1,110.

Sympathy is extended to Ciaran O’Donnell on the death of his uncle, Tony Langan in Dunfanaghy.
