Doherty sets PB and course record in Burtonport 5K

Letterkenny AC's Ciaran Doherty set a new personal best and a course record of 15:45 when winning the Burtonport 5K on Tuesday night.

The local man broke the 15 minute barrier for the first time on the road for 5K and took 16 seconds off his previous best for the distance. His club mates, Ivan Toner and Paul McGlinchey, took second and third respectively in 18:58 and 16:03.

Helena Crossan was the fasted woman in 18:02, with Letterkenny AC's Fionnuala Diver second in 18:15 and her club mate, Sheila Regan third in 18:39.
