Letterkenny AC Club Notes

Week 28

July 2009

THE club barbeque-social night at the clubhouse last Saturday night proved to be a great success.

Despite the indifferent weather conditions over 100 people turned out to enjoy the evening. It was a great opportunity for club members and their partners to meet and relax together.

The club would like to thank those involved in organising the event. The main organiser was C.J McGinley who was ably assisted by 'chefs' Richard Raymond and Sean McFadden, Garvan McCloskey, Ciaran O'Donnell and Sharon Bradley.

Thanks to everyone else who chipped in and helped out on the night. Such was the success of this inaugural event that it now promises to be an annual event on the club calendar.

Anyway, to matters more serious. Over 20 club members made the trip to Rathmullan for the 5k last Friday night. Johnny Patton (4th) and Ivan Toner (6th) led the Letterkenny A.C challenge while category winners included our own club secretary, Laura Corbett and Aidan McKenna's 'better half'- ‘Pat’ There were good performances also from Charlie Page, Kevin Ferry, Joe English, Ciaran O'Donnell, Aidan McKenna (PB again), Garvan McCloskey and Richard Raymond.

Tonight (Friday) the action switches to Cranford for the annual J.G Memorial 4.2 miles run. The Cranford club is steeped in history and this is always a great event, well organised by the local committee. For further information contact Michael Logue (074-91-53694).

The club lotto numbers at the weekend in The Glencar Inn were 1, 3, 6 and 14. There were three match 2 winners. They were, James McTaggart, Kenny Chamber and Terri Boyle. The jackpot is €1,270.
