Four Letterkenny Athletes took part in the AAI Games in Nenagh at the weekend. In the 200 metres Brian Boyce finished a very credible 3rd in a time of 25.81. The other three athletes lined up in the Senior 1000 metre event where Darren McBrearty finished 2nd overall in a time of 2.27.7. 16 year old Mark English finished 4th in the same race a time of 2.30.04. Danny Mooney was seeded in the B race but was much two strong for the rest of the field winning comfortably in a time of 2.35. The athletes were all very happy with their performances, in what promises to be a very exciting indoor season. They will all be competing in the National senior championships in the Odyssey Arena in Belfast on the 6th and 7th of February. Darren McBrearty has received a invitation to the World Indoor trials in Sheffield on the 14th February. Darren, Mark English and Ruairi Finnegan will also be competing in the AAA's in Birmingham at the end of February.
Members are reminded that the club are hosting a night at the Panto on Wednesday night, January 27th at 8 pm. The club will be the beneficiary of the Wednesday night's staging of Cinderella and the committee urges all connected with the club to come along, support the event and help sell some tickets. They are priced at 15 euro and are available from Gerry Davenport, Garvan McCloskey, Eunan Kelly, Ciaran O'Donnell, Sharon Bradley and Gary Crossan.
There was no winner of the club's lotto jackpot on Saturday night. The numbers drawn were 6, 14, 18 and 21. Michael Carr matched three numbers and won 80 euro.
