Letterkenny AC Club Notes
August 2009
THE Annual General Meeting of Letterkenny Athletic Club will take place on Tuesday (September 8) at 8pm in The Mount Errigal Hotel.
All members are asked to attend. Also, parents and all senior athletes are encouraged to come along. Everyone is welcome.
The Flag Day fundraiser will take place on Saturday next (September 12). The purpose of this event is to raise funds for the juvenile athletes. Collections will be made within the Letterkenny town area between 9am and 6pm.
Letterkenny's Gary Crossan returned to winning ways on Friday night when taking victory in the Brockagh Four Mile Road Race.
On a windy evening over and up and down circuit, the former national marathon champion led the field of 76 finishers home in a time of 20:53, with City of Derry's Emmet McGinty second in 21:03 and Letterkenny's Ivan Toner third in 21:40.
Finn Valley's Teresa McGloin continued her good form when taking victory in the senior women's section. Her time of 23:06 placed her tenth overall.
Once again, the rise in participation in the local grand prix series was evident, with a record entry for the Brockagh event organised by Finn Valley's Neil Martin. Well done to other Letterkenny athletes who done well on the night. They were: Paul McGlinchey (22.21), Humphry Murphy (23.17), Ciaran O’Donnell (24.07), Daniel Carr (25.49), Fionnuala Diver (25.54), Padraig Friel (26.06), Richard Raymond (27.13), Paul Cosgrove (27.24), Paddy Hannigan (29.06), Aisling Diver (29.31) and Deirdre Friel (31.53).
The lotto numbers last weekend were 1, 6, 10 and 15. There were a number of match two winners - Big P c/o Blakes, Joe English, Laura McFeely and Michael O’Donnell. The jackpot this weekend will be €1.350 in The Glencar Inn as usual.
Well done to Garvan McCloskey and Marty Gormley who had excellent runs in Coleraine for a 10k at the weekend.
