Doherty first home in Brockagh 4 mile

Letterkenny AC's Ciaran Doherty led a field of 99 competitors home in Friday night's four mile road race in Brockagh - his time of 19:53 was just 12 seconds off the course record set by former national senior cross country champion, Gary Murray. Finn Valley's Ian Ward was second in 20:49 with Ivan Toner of Letterkenny third in 21:20.

A new course record in the women's section was set by the in-form Teresa McGloin. The Finn Valley runner's time of 22:29, which placed her 11th overall, was 34 seconds quicker than the previous record set by her club mate, Noeleen Porter, in 2002. Finn Valley's Catriona McGranaghan was second in 24:59, with Sheila Regan third in 25:42.
