Well done to Johnny Patton and Pauric O’Donnell who finished second and third respectively in the John Gilmartin Memorial 5k in Milford last Friday night.
Tyrone McCullagh had 32 seconds to spare over his nearest challenger with his time of 15 minutes 44 seconds seeing him well clear of Letterkenny AC’s Johnny Patton in second. Pauric O’Donnell was third in a time of 16:33.
Finn Valley’s Teresa McGloin finished in seventh overall and her time of 17:16 saw her take the women’s prize, ahead of Helena Crossan of Inishowen in 15th (18:22). A number of our athletes took part in the event. There were fine runs from our club chairman, Ciaran O’Donnell who had a season best of 17.55, Gavin Crawford (17.04), Eddie Sweeney (17.09), Gerry McMonagle (18.03), Aidan McKenna (18.15), Hugh Gallagher (18.32), Fionnuala Diver (18.38), Richard Raymond (19.56), Sheila Regan (20.15), Lester Dobson (20.17) and Garvan McCloskey (20.23).
In the Frank Duffy ten mile road race in Dublin on Saturday a number of athletes performed very well. They were: Ivan Toner 58:35; Maria McCambridge 60:07; Marty Gormley 60:09; Paul Toner 60:18 and Ciaran Toner 60:38. Well done to all our athletes.
Many of our athletes are now in full training for the Dublin City Marathon which takes place at the end of October. The beneficiary of this year’s sponsorship from the club athletes will be the Donegal branch of the Irish Diabetes Federation. More details later.
The numbers drawn in the club lotto this week were 2,3, 11 and 14. There was one, match three winner-Bridie and Neil (behind the bar). The draw took place in The Glencar Inn.The jackpot this weekend this weekend is €1,320. We’d appeal to everyone to support the lotto fundraising for the club.
The Flag Day fundraiser planned for last weekend had to be postponed and has now been rescheduled for September 6. More details later.
