McKinney wins gold in over-40 section

Pauric McKinney led the Letterkenny AC charge in style on Sunday in the national 10K road championships in Dublin when winning the over-40 category and placing 16th overall. His time for the distance was 31:56. The championships, which were linked into the Spar Great Ireland Run, attracted an entry or around 11,000. Other Letterkenny AC runners who competed were Ciaran Doherty (37th in 33:36), Martin Gormley (114th in 36:29), Aidan McKenna (212th in 38:40), Ciaran O’Donnell (253rd in 39:21) and Hugh Gallagher (306th in 40:02).
There was no winner of the club’s weekly lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn on Saturday night in the Glencar Inn were 10, 16, 17 and 18. The four match two winners were Eugene McGettigan, Ciaran O’Donnell, John Davenport and Eileen McCormick. This weekend’s jackpot will be 1,050 euro.
Next up will be the North West 10K which takes place on Sunday, May 2nd in Letterkenny at 2 pm. This race marks the start of the 2010 grand prix series.
