Letterkenny AC Club Notes

Week 16

April 2009

Letterkenny AC’s Ciaran Doherty pulled off an unusual double on Easter Monday when he won a 5K road race and a 10K road race within an hour in Denmark - his time for the 5K was 15:33 while he ran 33:27 for 10K.

The club hosted another successful 3K road race on Sunday which attracted 86 runners. Cranford’s Eoghan McGinley ran a superb tactical race to take victory in 9:06 from City of Derry’s Emmet McGinty (9:12) and Letterkenny’s Pauric McKinney (9:13). Teresa McGloin from Finn Valley was the fastest woman in a time of 10:08.

Dan Mooney won the Dunfanaghy 5K on Sunday evening with Eddie Sweeney second and Sean McFadden third.

This weekend the club will have teams in action in the national road relay championships which are being held in Raheny, Dublin.

Best wishes to Norman Spratt who departs for the Boston Marathon at the weekend. Norman is one of the club’s most experienced marathon runners and it’s good to see him back in competitive action again.

There was no winner of the club’s lotto jackpot at the weekend. The numbers drawn were 4, 17, 18 and 19. Michelle Duffy matched three numbers and wins 80 euro.
