Letterkenny Athletic Club was formed in 1972. In its 35 year history, it has evolved into one of the leading athletic clubs in Donegal and throughout Ireland. The club caters for both juvenile and senior athletes of all abilities. The club is based in the centre of Letterkenny on the Pearse Road and its facilities include a 400m running track and clubhouse. It is one of the biggest clubs in the North-West with a current membership of 150 juvenile and 100 senior athletes.

LAC takes part in cross-country, road running and track and field competitions throughout the year. Over the years, the club has had remarkable success at all levels of competition at local, national and international level.
